Midterm: Vicki FramiVicki Frami, 25, has worked as a student supervisor at Marquette University's Brew Cafes since February 2010 and has loved it ever since. A student at Waukesha County Technical College in hospitality management, Frami has always wanted to work in the service field.
When she's not working, Frami enjoys spending time at home, visiting her parents, or watching sports games, supporting her favorite Wisconsin teams. She is also currently taking classes to receive her Bachelor's degree. After partaking in over five interviews for the position, she immediately began training students. "My goal is ultimately to manage somewhere," says Frami. "With being a Brew supervisor I get to put everything I learned in school and what I've learned as an employee together." Frami's day can start as early as six a.m. when she begins updating the students' payroll, making deposits from the previous day's sales, and preparing the accounts for that day. "It's a lot of behind the scenes work of counting money, making sure the deposits are good...a lot of investigating" says Frami. Although a majority of Frami's time is spent behind the computer, she loves interacting with students on a daily basis, making sure they are doing their jobs correctly while still enjoying the casual environment. "My favorite aspect of working with the Brew is having the responsibilities I have." says Frami. "Also having great close relationships with people." Throughout the day, Frami takes breaks from her accounting work to help directly with students or work on her own organizational projects to help keep the management team and student workers on top of things. "It's a lot of helping out with the Brew: stocking, cleaning, delegating to students," says Frami. "Leading by example and training and building them for the real world." When posed with the question 'Why do you love the Brew?' Frami simply responds, "Coffee is great!" "You can see when you're training someone they get they light, they understand, and it's really nice to have that effect on people," says Frami. |
