Brewing Happiness, One Cup at a TimeStarting at 6 a.m., Vicki Frami begins her day almost always at the computer. Although the computer is a major component of her job, she often takes time throughout the day to interact with the students.
"I spend almost my entire day at the computer," says Frami. "My day is not that interesting, but I love working with people, so I try and help out downstairs (in the Brew)." Frami, 25, who has worked as a Barista Supervisor with the Brew since February 2010, maintains an outgoing and positive attitude as she oversees the 5 Brew locations. "I applied for the supervisor position when I saw a posting on Craigslist almost two years ago," said Frami. "I went through a five interview process before I got the job." Working interpersonal management has always been of interest to her, as she works to gain experience in the field. "It gave me the work experience, but it's also more interesting the management point of view," said Frami. Recently, Frami has also been working with Tory Hill, located in Eckstein Hall Law Library, where she opens the cafe. "My favorite part is interacting with the employees and the customers. It's really a lot of fun to make someone's day," said Frami, as she works with student employee Eileen Forrest. However, with her bright and colorful personality, she has a hard time finding a balance when it comes to discipline. "I like to be nice," said Frami. "So it's weird to find balance between being too mean or too nice." Frami works over 40 hours a week, but when she's not working she is a freelance photographer, and loves to keep up on Wisconsin sports. "I had to work late the other night, so I missed the Brewers' game," said Frami. "But I'll be home when they play tomorrow so that will make up for it." |
